2021 Staff Dining Info

Staff Dining Menus will be posted here in April 2021

Staff members will take their meals in one of three (maybe 4) Staff dining facilities.  Most staff will take their meals at the dining hall closest to where they are assigned to camp.  In rare instances, a few Staff will be approved by the Jamboree Office to take meals in multiple dining halls:

  • Echo Dining Hall – The first and largest one will be in the IST staff Base Camp E. This facility will serve all staff who reside in Base Camp E. During the Jamboree, breakfast service is from 5:00am to 9:00am and dinner is served from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Some exceptions such as on show days will be announced and posted on the white board as you enter the serving lines. No special dining pass is required for Staff to dine at E.
  • Pigott Dining Hall – Staff residing in Base Camps C and D will dine in the Piggott Staff Dining facility that is situated between Base Camps C and D. The service hours are 5:30am to 7:30am, and 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Some exceptions will be announced. A Jamboree-issued dining pass is required to eat here.
  • Fork-in-the-Road Dining Hall – Staff residing in Base Camps A and B will dine at the Fork-in-the-Road Staff Dining facility that is situated between Base Camps A and B. The service hours are 5:30am to 7:30am, and 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Some exceptions will be announced. A Jamboree-issued dining pass is required to eat here.

Staff will find at all dining halls that breakfast and dinner meals are buffet style and self-service. So, you don’t have to ask a server for a little more of this or not to give you that. Please be careful to use the intended serving spoon so as not to cross food from one serving dish into another. You will be welcomed to take all you want from the breakfast and dinner entrées, the fruit and salad bars, the dinner dessert bars and the beverage stations. Many meal services have multiple entrées offered and the selection will be greatest at the large dining hall in Echo. You should note as the service progresses, some of these selections may be totally consumed based on popularity.

A trail lunch will be packaged by each staff member after breakfast, as described in greater detail below. Staff will be offered a choice of protein items and then staff may select from a buffet of non-perishable items available at the trail lunch area located proximate to each Staff Dining facility. All staff will need to bring their DAILY LUNCH TICKET and their own re-useable sack to pack and carry their lunch. Though you are welcome to take your lunch and hand fruit with you, we highly recommend NOT eating food inside your sleeping tents. We do have bears, raccoons, skunks and other animals that will enter your tent based on the smell of possible food.

There will not be any beverage or food served after breakfast until the opening of dinner service. No food or beverages will be served after dinner until the time breakfast service starts in the morning.  Meal service before July 15th and after July 30th will be limited, both in terms of time and locations, and on a published schedule.

NOTE: No PATCH SWAP DISPLAYS are allowed in OR AROUND any of the dining halls during meal service times. We need all of the tables for staff to sit and eat.

Finally, portions of each Staff Dining facility will be closed at various times throughout the day for cleaning and maintenance, and perhaps for special programmed events.

In the event a Staff Team anticipates an area wide, job-essential conflict that precludes all staff members of the team from getting their meal at a Staff Dining facility (such as the Registration Team on Arrival Day or the Shows Team on Stadium Show Days), the Food Team will attempt to arrange special feeding. Such arrangements must be made by May 1, 2019 by contacting the Food Team leadership at JamboreeFoodTeam@gmail.com to discuss alternatives. Options available may include earlier or later dinner time at the Staff Dining facility in Echo or, in unusual circumstances, delivery of a limited meal service selected from the staff dining meal being served that day OR extra trail lunches. Non-Dining Hall remote custom meal service is available but must be arranged directly through event catering AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. See the Catering tab above.

The 3 Staff Dining facilities will offer individual meal kits that accommodate Kosher and Halal diets via pre-packaged individual meal kits issued to staff that pre-registered as Kosher or Halal. These Staff members will receive special identification at their first meal at their assigned dining hall. There also will be dedicated microwave ovens for staff to warm special meal components. The menus for these meals will be post here in April 2021.

Some other dietary ways will likely be supported by some items in a regular serving line that by their nature are vegetarian or vegan…or might meet other specific needs. Any special dietary requirements will be the responsibility of the individual staff member or participant.  While the Food Team recognizes the difficulties presented to those allergic to wheat, milk, peanuts, and many other items it is simply impractical to accommodate individual needs at an event of this scale.  Therefore, as has been stated in both the staff and leaders’ guide books all such Scouts should plan ahead and either bring from home (or ship) special non-refrigerated dietary items (and preparation equipment) to supplement Jamboree menus. To review the Jamboree Special Food Policy and learn about shipping food needs to the Jamboree, go to 2021 National Jamboree Special Food Needs Policy

The Jamboree Food Team will have liaison staff members who will gladly consult with staff members who have food allergy driven dietary ways, and others as well, to answer questions about any food item served (to include consultation with the Staff Dining Hall Chefs if needed).

Many staff areas and teams will discover that the Staff Dining facilities are great places to gather, formally or informally. We welcome you to use these facilities. To help us be prepared for larger gatherings, and so as not to conflict with scheduled events taking place at each location throughout the Jamboree, Staff Dining areas need to be reserved. Requests should be sent to JamboreeFoodTeam@gmail.com  outlining your desired location, estimated head count, date and time requested. The Staff Dining team will issue you a confirmation. To ensure your group is reserved, early submissions are suggested.

Please note that the Staff Dining team is not permitted to provide any Catering for these events. Any desired items must be arranged directly through event catering AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. See the Catering tab above.

If after reviewing the above information, you have questions, please start with your Jamboree Staff Leader and/or your council’s Jamboree Committee. It is highly likely that they have helped others with the same questions. Jamboree Team Leaders, Council Jamboree Coordinators and Staff Advisors can direct their inquiries to jamboreefoodteam@gmail.org and we will respond soon.
